At AbayaFemme, the Muslim Women's Khimar collection ranges from 9,99 € to 19,99 €.

The long khimar is the preferred choice for women seeking complete coverage of the head, neck, shoulders and bust. Worn with an abaya, it creates a harmonious and modest abaya khimar set. Our styles are available in several lengths (mid-length, maxi length) and shapes: rounded long khimar, pointed long khimar or long khimar with slits to free the hands.

Whether you are looking for a long Medina silk khimar for special occasions or a long jersey khimar for everyday wear, our range meets every need of the modern Muslim woman.

Collection guide

Choose a long, comfortable khimar

The khimar stands out with coverage that falls over the bust and back. To choose well, look at its length, shape, number of veils and material flexibility rather than the photo style alone.

Length and level of coverage

A short khimar remains practical for getting around, while a long khimar offers greater coverage. Compare the front and back lengths as well as your height to anticipate how it will actually look on your silhouette.

A fabric suited to your pace

A fluid fabric moves with you and limits volume. A more structured fabric maintains a clean line. For frequent wear, also take into account the care and drying time indicated on the page.

How to style the outfit

Pair the Khimar with an Abaya or a long dress with a balanced volume. Matching tones create a continuous silhouette; a soft contrast distinguishes the pieces while maintaining a calm allure.

Our khimar styles by fabric and design

Medina silk khimar

Premium, flowing, lightweight and crease-resistant fabric. Ideal for an elegantly draped Medina silk khimar, available in short or long versions.

Jazz khimar

A practical veil with an integrated headband and 2 layers. The jazz khimar slips on quickly and provides perfect hold all day long. Available in short and long versions.

Jersey khimar

Stretchy, soft and breathable fabric. The premium jersey khimar follows the figure without clinging and offers unrivalled everyday comfort.

Chiffon khimar

An airy, sheer fabric designed for layering. The chiffon khimar is perfect for a chic, delicate finish and is often chosen with 2 or 3 layers.

3-layer khimar

Adaptable and modest, the 3-layer khimar lets you adjust the level of opacity and create different looks for each occasion.

Cape khimar

With an oversized cape-style cut, the cape khimar creates a loose, majestic silhouette. Perfect for a confident, modest look.

Short or long khimar: how should you choose?

The choice between a short khimar and a long khimar depends on your clothing style and the level of coverage you want. The short khimar (chest length) is easy to wear every day with a lightweight khimar hijab, while the long khimar (waist or knee length) offers more coverage and pairs perfectly with an abaya.

Pointed or rounded khimar?

The pointed khimar creates a vertical line that elongates the silhouette — it is the most common style. The rounded khimar, softer in shape, suits those who prefer a natural drape without a pronounced point.

A wide choice of colours for every wardrobe

Our women’s khimars are available in an extensive palette: timeless classics (black, white, grey, taupe), soft shades (powder pink, sky blue, sage green), vivid colours (burgundy, royal blue, emerald) and seasonal tones (chocolate, camel, terracotta). Whether you are looking for an affordable khimar for everyday wear or a premium style for an occasion, you will find the perfect colour.

Frequently asked questions about the khimar

What is a khimar?

The khimar (from the Arabic خِمَار, ‘to cover’) is an Islamic veil that covers a Muslim woman’s head, neck and chest, leaving only the face visible. Unlike a standard hijab, the khimar falls lower and provides more generous coverage of the upper body. It is generally worn with an abaya or a long, loose-fitting outfit.

What is the difference between a khimar and a jilbab?

The khimar is a veil that covers the head, neck and chest — it needs to be worn with a lower garment (abaya, maxi dress). The jilbab, by contrast, is a loose garment that covers the whole body, from head to toe, often in one or two pieces. In short: the khimar covers the top, while the jilbab covers everything.

How do I choose the right khimar size?

The size depends on the coverage required. A short khimar (about 70-90 cm) reaches the chest and is suitable for everyday wear. A mid-length khimar (100-120 cm) covers down to the waist. A long khimar (130 cm and over) falls to the knees or lower for maximum coverage. For a jazz khimar, the size is usually standard thanks to the adjustable headband.

Which khimar fabric should I choose?

Each fabric meets a different need. Medina silk is lightweight and crease-resistant, ideal for occasions. Jersey is stretchy and comfortable for everyday use. Chiffon is airy and delicate, perfect for layering (2 or 3 layers). Crêpe offers a structured drape. We recommend jersey to start with and Medina silk for dressier outfits.

Is the 3-layer khimar permitted in Islam?

The 3-layer khimar is a clothing choice appreciated by many Muslim women for its enhanced coverage and opacity. Scholars agree on the obligation to wear a covering veil (khimar) — the number of layers is a matter of personal preference intended to ensure the fabric is opaque. The essential point is that the veil is sufficiently opaque and covering.
