Seven ways to wear a Hijab, filmed on our own models. Each technique explains its purpose, which fabric it works with, and where to find the piece used. Start with jersey or prêt-à-porter if you are a beginner: these are the two that stay in place on their own.

Prêt-à-porter Hijab: slip it on in one gesture

The prêt-à-porter Hijab is already sewn to fit the shape of the head: there are no pins or drapes to redo. You slip it on like a garment, adjust the band on the forehead, and the drape falls naturally into place. It is the quickest solution for a hurried departure and the most stable for a working day. The seven videos below show the same gesture on seven different models, from the most covering to the lightest.

XXL Hijab: mastering a large format

A maxi format Hijab is worn differently from a standard format: the extra length is used to cover the shoulders and chest without adding a second piece. The difficulty is the weight of the free panel, which pulls backwards. The video shows where to place the fixation point so that the fabric falls straight instead of slipping.

Chiffon Hijab: the fluid drape

Chiffon is the lightest fabric in the catalogue, and it is also the one that slips the most. The drape is held by the fold, not by pins: a well-positioned base, one panel longer than the other, and a single fixing point at the nape of the neck. The two videos show the short version, for every day, and the long version which covers the shoulders.

Jersey Hijab: the knit that doesn’t slip

Jersey grips on its own: it is the fabric to choose when you are starting out, or when you don’t have time to readjust during the day. It is worn without an underscarf in most cases, and it tolerates being tied. The two videos show the simple tying method, then the crossed version under the chin.

2-in-1 Cotton Hijab: bonnet and veil in one piece

The 2-in-1 combines the bonnet and the veil in a single garment: nothing shifts between the two layers, and there is only one piece to slip on. In cotton, it remains breathable all day long, making it the ideal summer format. The video shows how to position it to free the forehead without uncovering the hair.

2-in-1 Chiffon Hijab: the dressed-up version

Same principle as the cotton 2-in-1, with a chiffon veil: the hold of the bonnet, the drape of an evening Hijab. It is the compromise for an occasion when you don’t want to spend the evening readjusting.

Rayon Hijab: the heavy drape

Rayon drapes more heavily than chiffon and holds the fold you give it. It therefore requires fewer fastenings, but more precise placement at the start: once positioned, it cannot be caught up. The video shows the drape in two unequal panels.
